Flexibility

In my own training, I’ve recently been working on improving my flexibility through yoga, Pilates and increasing my stretching routine.

Our bodies can get so efficient at working within the routine we set for them - whether that’s lifting weights, running, cycling - so it’s really beneficial to introduce other exercises to enhance how we move.

In turn, this can help to reduce the risk of injury, improve performance within our sport or activity and also feel better equipped for daily life. I’ve had clients come in with injuries from reaching for their seatbelts, opening cupboards or simply turning their heads.

I was always one to skip the warm-up, forget to stretch or lift weights over do yoga but I now see this as part of my training programme rather than ‘something else to fit in’.

Try it for a week, then a month, then make it a habit for life.
